The Information Systems Program (IS) is an internationally recognized undergraduate major for students who want to design and implement effective solutions to meet organizational and management needs for information and decision support. Graduates of the Information Systems program are ideally situated to take a leading role in shaping our information-based future.
Information Systems is a unique and innovative program in Carnegie Mellon Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Students completing the program will be well grounded in the fundamentals of organization theory, decision making, teamwork and leadership, and research methods as well as current and emerging information systems technologies.
As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, we prepare students to participate in emerging opportunities in software systems and services, wherever they may be. Building on our solid educational core, we encourage students to learn more about world cultures and business through study of global systems development, cross cultural communications, history, and languages.
Recruiting and Jobs
Graduates of the program are recruited by a wide range of employers in global consulting, manufacturing, consumer products, finance, and software firms. Accenture, Apple, Boeing, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Google, Johnson and Johnson, Microsoft, and Procter and Gamble, are just some of the companies that recruit IS graduates.
